Cagayan de Oro’s Lifestyle Show marks Two

Cagayan de Oro’s premier online Lifestyle Show celebrates its second anniversary this month with the tagline “Hello CDO Todo na Two!”
What started off as a one-off concert to help people in the production and events industry who were adversely affected by the pandemic, has metamorphosed into an all-encompassing lifestyle show covering unique aspects of all people’s lives.
“ONE LOVE CDO Concert held on May 23, 2020 was a concert aimed to help members of the production and events industry affected by the pandemic.
We raised money to buy sacks of rice,” says Executive Producer Donna Ocampo. “That online event gave us a first-hand experience of what it was like to do an online show. We were introduced to the process of mounting a digital program.”
“It’s been surreal for me. Transitioning to online hosting meant being my own production team,” Hello CDO co-host Nicole Abas Datayan of Niki TV recalls. “My ever supportive husband dove head first into purchasing lights, audio, backdrops, table and chair for the set, etc. (He’s a techie. So, I feel like he enjoyed this process more than I.)
The team aired its pilot episode on September 18, 2020 featuring Arthur Nery as main Spotlight guests and the Banaag Siblings RB and Kyle as 1° guests. Mani ni Mina was also the first Diskarte guest.
Diskarte is the show’s segment featuring home based business thriving during the pandemic while Meet-Up is a segment where the host visits a business operating in support of local business following IATF protocols. Its Spotlight segment features inspiring stories of Kagay-anons.
For its first anniversary show in September 2021, Kagay-anon singer/actress May May Entrata was their VIP Guest on Spotlight, and special gifts were given out to three Kagay-anons with inspiring stories.
For its first year, the team focused on getting to know the audience, and introducing them to the concept of Hello CdeO.
“We discovered home-based businesses and met a lot of talented Kagay-anons. Audience engagement was mostly virtual,” Ocampo said.
“One of our highlighted activities was a first ever Xmas Bazaar which raised P10,000 for a community project by a Rotary Club,” she added.
The 1st year also allowed the show to interview Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Alumna and Kagay-anon Brenda Mage for its Xmas Show.
By its second year, less stringent health protocols allowed the team to do more stories outside their homes. There were road trip segments such as the OPOL and CLAVERIA Road trips and FOOD CRAWL, a DOT collab project, took the hosts to many foodie places around Northern Mindanao.
The show also did monthly themes like WOMEN’s month episode which featured women in the NBI, Presidential Security Group, and a female pilot, among others . For Summer, a lineup of Hot Boys featured various fields like sports, fitness and fashion.
As a show intimately involved with the lives of many Kagay-anons, HelloCDO has been a constant partner in various fundraising events for the less fortunate.
Among them: The Hearts & Hands Towards Recovery (a drug rehab center) in June of 2021, a Virtual Christmas Bazaar in December of 2020 to raise funds for victims of Typhoon Ulysses. Most recently, they covered an online concert last September 16 to help raise funds for a patient diagnosed with Stage 5 renal failure.
HelloCDO has also featured the inspiring stories of Kagay-anons who have made it big abroad such as Australia-based bestselling author Kristyn Maslog-Levis, Seattle-based visual artist Nikita Ravanera, Texas-based life coach, businesswoman and Fil-community officer Jil Lasaca, New York-based fashion designer Boogie Musni Rivera, and US-based chocolatier Candy Ray Villaroya-Miel.
HelloCDO Team is produced by K and M Creatives and Events Management, an events management team that has also transitioned from doing on site events to producing digital programs . The show is also co-produced by Nicole Abas Datayan Niki TV and Owen Online 9000 Events.
“Hello CdO became a wonderful platform, not only as a venue for my passion, but also for local businesses and personalities to be able to continue on despite the pandemic. It is, as I see it, an extension of our advocacy to support local,” Nicole reflected.
“Despite the huge learning curves, here we are, moving into year 3, and I’m so proud of what we have achieved and can achieve, together with Kagay-anons, Mindanaoans, and the rest of the world!”
Added Owen Jaen:
“I’m grateful that I am part of the show because it helped redefine my being a host from live events to online shows. Plus I found a purpose during the pandemic – to be of help to struggling business people like me, as well as showcase the lighter side of life in CDO and Northern Mindanao.”
Also in the team are Aileen Abao-Parojinog (Associate Producer), Mark Lester Dagasuan (Virtual Specialist), and Kit Galicia and Michael Tolang (Videographers).
